Acupressure Points

Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Acupressure was developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago. Using the power and sensitivity of the hand, Acupressure Therapy is effective in the relief of stress-related ailments, and is ideal for self-treatment and preventive health care for boosting the immune system. Acupressure releases tension, increases circulation, reduces pain, and develops spirituality and vibrant health. For a pressure point reference and a self-care guide for common complaints from A to Z, see Acupressure’s Potent Points by Michael Reed Gach, Ph.D., with 400 illustrations and over a hundred self-acupressure healing applications.

Acupressure points for diabetes

Acupressure is one of the natural ways to cure your body and has been sought after over allopathy due to its healing properties by using body’s own energy. Diabetes is of two basic types: Type 1, where the pancreas in one’s body doesn’t produce enough insulin to digest sugars and Type 2, where the cells become immune to the insulin and thus do not digest sugar that’s outside the blood. Either ways, blood sugar levels are affected giving result to a lot of adverse reactions in the body but the good news is diabetes can be controlled to a large extent if not totally cured.

Canine Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years and is especially effective in treating problems to do with immune system function, gastrointestinal function, and internal organ function. It is also useful for giving pain relief. Small companion animals such as cats and dogs as well as exotic animals are all candidates for acupuncture treatment.

Stop smoking acupuncture

I am to this day always amazed at how effective acupuncture is for aiding someone to quit smoking. We learned how to do the NADA protocol which has been used for decades in hospitals, clinics, drug and alcohol rehab programs and in many quit smoking programs. It is not just for cigarette addiction, it is for all addictions.

The NADA protocol is consists of 5 points in each ear, which remains for about 30-45 minutes. These 5 points help to do curb cravings, decrease stress, balance the body, aid in detoxification, and it really just feels great!

Acupressure Points for Deep Sleep

All of us suffer sleepless nights once in a while. Did you know the pressure points that are used in acupuncture can also be used at home? Try these acupressure points the next time you find yourself tossing and turning at night.

Having trouble sleeping? Try these techniques from Steve Given, clinical faculty member at , the teaching clinic of Bastyr University:

Between your eyebrows, there is a small depression on the level of your brows, right above the nose. Apply gentle pressure to that point for a minute.

  • Between your first and second toes, on top of the foot, there is a depression. Press that area for a few minutes until you feel a dull ache.
  • Imagine that your foot has three sections, beginning at the tips of your toes and ending at the back of your heel. Find the distance one-third back from the tips of your toes and press on the sole of your foot for a few minutes.

Massage both of your ears for a minute.

Acupuncture is generally safe when done by an appropriately trained practitioner using clean technique and single-use needles. When properly delivered, it has a low rate of mostly minor. When not delivered properly by a qualified practitioner it can cause potentially serious adverse effects.Between 2000 and 2009, at least ninety-five cases of serious adverse events, including five deaths, were reported to have resulted from acupuncture.Since serious adverse events continue to be reported, it is recommended that acupuncturists be trained sufficiently to reduce the risk. A meta-analysis found that acupuncture for chronic low back pain was as an adjunct to standard care, while a systematic review found insufficient evidence for the cost-effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of chronic low back pain.

Relieving Headaches with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Both western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine recognize two categories of headaches: primary and secondary. A primary headache is a clinical condition, not a symptom of another disorder. Primary headaches include tension headaches, migraines and cluster headaches. Secondary headaches are caused by other medical conditions such as sinus disease, allergies, dental disorders, head injury or brain tumors. Acupuncture is used to effectively treat primary headaches, namely tension and migraine, which are the most common.

Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or for the mind to simply acknowledge its content without becoming identified with that content, or as an end in itself.
The term meditation refers to a broad variety of practices that includes techniques designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy or life force (qi, ki, prana, etc.) and develop compassion, love, patience, generosity and forgiveness. A particularly ambitious form of meditation aims at effortlessly sustained single-pointed concentration meant to enable its practitioner to enjoy an indestructible sense of well-being while engaging in any life activity.
